Renew your domain before the registration expires. In the .RU and .РФ zones, the website and email stop working at expiry, and the registrant has 30 days to renew before the domain is released.
Once released, anyone can register the domain — including resellers. Renew early and keep an eye on reminders.
For international zones (.COM, .NET and others), recovery periods and fees after expiry depend on the zone and the registrar, so check them in advance.
